California is taking another step towards renewable energy and especially Solar Power, which is a highly recommend energy source for the sunny state. The California Public Utilities Commission plan a roll-up from this year to 2020 to increase the use of solar energy in the state. Utilities in California are asked to invest about $3 billion on power storage solutions to be able to store 1325 megawatts by 2020. By then, California is asking energy providers in the state to source one third of their energy from renewable sources: solar power, wind power… Yet to be approved, this rule will be open to public comments early as next months. The main goal is to further California energy mix by producing and stocking more power from renewable sources.
For the past few years, building and housing projects have been developed all over the world. Some buildings are entirely powered by renewable energy and can store it. Inspirational projects have also been made such as this eco-friendly village in New-Zealand we talked about a month ago . Communities and individuals are asking for more autonomy regarding energy but also cheaper prices and safer way to supply their need of electricity. With this project, it’s another promising step toward all those claims.
However, individuals are one step head already as some houses are able to store solar energy, for example, and sell it to energy providers. They don’t have only free and clean energy, they also make money out of it. This way facilities they bought are quickly capitalized.
At Greenshine, we provide solar powered lights. They are entirely autonomous, most of them thanks to our powerful battery system which gives our solar outdoor lights up to 6 days of autonomy. More info here.
