Las Vegas famous welcoming sign might soon be powered by solar energy. A project, led by two local non-profits, The Clean Energy Project and Green Chips, plans to install fake blue tree, which will each foster 12 solar panels, to power the sign. This project will not cost a penny to the county as a Virginia-based organization, Consumer Electronics Association, will be funding it.
However, discussion are still tense on the spot where those fake trees will be installed. Commissioners are worried about the trees destroying the usual scenery of the “Welcome to Las Vegas” sign. Some of them also raise a doubt on the aesthetic of fake blue trees. Organizations still have to discuss further and present a more appealing solution to the commissioners.
